The coroner's jury inquiring into the death of Sydney Conforth, who was killed on the Normal school building by a falling girder, brought in a verdict after a long session, that Cornforth was killed by there being a defect in the derrick rope, which allowed the girder to drop. It is quite likely the British Columbia Contract Co., will have a heavy lawsuit on their hands over the affair. The girder weighted 2,000 pounds, and expert witnesses at the inquest stated that the rope at most was not safe to lift more than 800 pounds. F.W.
