1293 EDMONTON DAILY DEC 2, 1907 J.A. McDougall and Ald. Picard are the Mayoralty Candidates. Fourteen Nominations for Aldermen. The municipal contest next week gives promise of being one of the keenest in the history of the city of Edmonton. There are now sixteen candidates in the field, including the two for mayor and interest is already growing red hot. At the nomination this morning there were many citizens present and the interest shown gives some indication of what the excitement will be on election-day. For the first time in some years there promises to be a contest for public school trustee, but some of those nominated may withdraw before election day. Schuster retired last year, and as Mr. Lessard and Js. McAllister are the only nominees this year they are elected by acclamation. The other members of the board are; GARIEPY, Wilfrid HART, E.J. PICARD, J.H. In public school trustees there are May and Alex. Taylor vacate office and Justice H.C. Taylor has also resigned. There will thus be three new candidates, elected. Messrs. May and Taylor are both standing for re-election. The other members of the board are Dr. Ferris and Rev. H.A. Gray. There will be two election booths, one at Jaeger's fur store, west of the Windsor hotel for the West end and the other at the city hall for the East end. N.F. Harbottle is returning officer and A.H.
