Jarrett left for his home in Whitby to eat Christmas dinner with his parents. J. Kerr, A. Balfour and J. Jacobson left yesterday for the coast to spend their holidays. O. Valiue and family left last night for Oklahoma to spend Christmas with old friends. W.O. and Mrs. Chapman left for Vancouver and Victoria yesterday to spend Christmas. Miss. Jessie Watson, a student at Albert College, is spending the holidays at her home at Beaver Lake. F. Good and his daughter left yesterday on the C.N.R. for Sutton, Ont. to spend Christmas with old friends. At the First Presbyterian church last night J.A. Fife, B.A., of the City High school staff, gave a very interesting lecture on Birds and their Reation to Agriculture. In opeing he pointed out that man by his destruction of birds often assists in brining about plagues. For instance Alberta has been troubled by rabbits and rodents due to their natural enemies being destroyed by man. Birds also feed on noxious weeds, the sparow being particularly active in this respect. The chair at the meeting was occupied by Dr. Revell, provincial bacteriologist, and there was a good attendance.
