Mrs. CORSE, George Mrs. On the occasion of his marriage recently Mr. Cowan, of the official staff of the Alberta Penitentiary, was presented with a hansom oak chair. The presentation was made by the warden and officers of the staff. F.A. Merkins, one of Edmonton's contractors has been investigating prospects at Wetaskiwin, and has decided to make his headquarters there. He will move his family there shortly. Miss Annie E. Mitchell of Guelph, who has accepted the position of martron of the Edmonton Isolation hospital, arrived in the city yesterday, and will enter upon her duties tomorrow. Miss Mitchell visited with Winnipeg friends for a couple of days on her way here. Miss Shearer, of Camrose, is the latest to enroll at Alberta Collage. She arrived on Monday. Mrs. J.A. Powell and son, Ray, left on Sunday for Banff, where they will spend a short holiday for the benefit of the latter's health. Mrs. George Corse arrived yesterday from St. John. N.B. to join her husband, who has been a resident here all winter. They have secured a residence on Fraser avenue.
