1473 EDMONTON DAILY JUNE 20, 1907 NICHTER, John FRANKLIN, Joseph John Nichter, who is employed in Edmonton bottling works, in cutting material for boxes, met with an painful accident yesterday evening about 5 o'clock. While sawing a small board his thumb was caught in the little circular saw and almost severed. The bone was so badly shattered that the thumb had to be amputated by Drs. Braithwaite and Robertson at the public hospital. Joseph Franklin, a farmer from Independence, was brought to the city hospital last evening suffering from a bruised hand. Mr. Franklin, in company with another man, was driving stakes in the ground. He slipped, and in the act of falling caught the stake just as his companion delivered a heavy blow on the top of the stake with a sledge hammer. The blow caught Mr. Franklin on the thumb, bruising it so severely that a portion was amputated by Dr. Hilop.
