NICTURN, John FRANLIN, Joe The spring view school closed on June 28th with a picnic given, by the teacher, Miss Blanch Reece, to her scholars, which was very much enjoyed. The afternoon was taken up with a program and games. The Independence school closed on June 28th, the teacher, Miss Ross also giving a picnic for her pupils. Two farmers. Mr. John Nicturn and Mr. Joe Franklin of Independence and Advance, have lately had the misfortune to meet with serious accidents. Mr. Nicturn had his thumb severed in buzz- saw and Mr. Franklin also had his thumb injured while fencing. Part of the thumb had to be amputated.
