427 EDMONTON DAILY AUG 19, 1907 CAMPBELL, J.E. CORNEILLE, C.G. Rev. DAVISON, Rev. TERRY, Mrs. - Teacher CHRISTIE, T. Miss. HARMIER, Mrs. Of Pattsville Wetaskiwin Mrs. J.E. Campbell returned on Thursday evening from a visit of some months with Ontario friends and relatives. Rev. C.G. and Mrs. Corneille, formerly of this city, are renewing acquaintances here, where they have numerous friends and admirers. Mrs. Corenhile's brother, Mr. Rev. Davison, of Toronto, accompanied the party on an extended tour of the prairie provinces, and British Colubia, with a view to locating in some attractive spot. Mr. Corneille obedient to his physician's orders, is taking a year's vacation to rest his throat. The school board has made a radical departure for the ensuing term, in taking over the kindergarten as an experiment. This, it will be remembered was begun by Mrs. Terry, of London, Engl., who is a specialist in this work, as well as in music, drawing and painting. By adding Mrs. Terry to the staff (making the ninth teacher) the services of a specialist are secured for the whole public school, as she is to devote at least one day a week to this work. The scheme of uniting with Lacombe and Red Deer to secure a special teacher for this work, failed to materialize. The school board held a special meeting on Friday morning last, to consider the resignation of Miss T. Christie, who has secured a lucrative position as secretary of a large lumber company in Kasto, B.C. Her place will be hard to fill, especially as the board are determined to keep Westaskiwin to the front as in the past by maintaining the best staff procurable, engaging none but first class certificated teachers, or those with degrees from some reputable university. A substitute is to be engaged till a suitable teacher can be secured. Paris Ont. Aug 17, - Yesterday morning Mrs. Harmier, of Pattsville attempted to cross to the further platform of the new station in front of an incoming train, which she intended taking, and was struck and instantly killed.
