Inkster, a farmer two miles east of Stratcona, struck a six foot scam of coal at a depth of 22 feet, in boring for a well. The coal is similar in quality to that of the Clover Bar district. Mr. Inkster took out two tones. John H. Tanton, who has been spending a month at the coast has returned to the city. Geo. Pack, who has been enjoying a month's outing at the coast has returned again to the city. Miss. Pearl Taylor, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, is visiting Mrs. H.C. Taylor, 417 Fifth Street. J.A. Markel, of Gleichen, Inspector of Indian agencies for the province is spending the day in Edmonton at the Cecil. E. Carey, general merchant at Andrew, Alta., is spending a few days in Edmonton and is a guest at the Imperial. Rev. W. Sparlding a prominent Methodist pastor of Winnipeg, is spending the day in the city at the King Edward. Rev. T.C. Buchanan, of Calgary superintendent of Methodist missions for Alberta, was in the city yesterday at the St. James. W.N. Barnard of Portland, Ore. Arrived in the city yesterday, and left this morning on a business trip to Athabasca Landing. D. Campbell, a well known general merchant at Uxbridge, Ont., accompanied by Mrs. Campbell, are visiting in Edmonton this week. H. Critchlow, of Paddle River, is in the city today at the Pendnnis. He reports the crop outlook in that section exceptionally satisfactory. Mrs. W.G. Lowry, of Leduc, and her guest, Miss. Corley, of Mont Forest, Ont., are visiting in the city this week, and are guests at the Alberta. Mr. and Mrs. A. Steine, of Waterloo, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Steine, of New Hamburg, who are on a pleasure trip through the west, are guests at the St. James. S.P. Sweeton, register general of Jamaica accompanided by his wife and Miss Sweeton, arrived in the city on Monday, and are stopping at the King Edward.
