Preparations are now being made for the third annual fall fair to be held on the 7th of the next month. The patrons, officers and directors of the Alix agricultural  society for 1910 are as follows: Patroness, Countess Grey; patrons, Hon. A. L. Sifton, Dr. M. Clark, M. P., W. F. Puffer, M. P., Hon.-pres., Mrs. A. C. Westhead; president, Colonel Marryat; vice-presidents, W. C. H. Parlby and R. F. Anderson; directors, Joseph Ennis, R. L. Toepfer, Frank R. Mitchell, Geo. H. Darlow, J. E. Merrifield, E. Bashaw, J. N. Cuss, C. M. Yarwood, W. J. Carroll, Edward Parlby, Thomas P. Sommerville, W. T. Hopkirk; treasurer, W. T. Hopkirk; secretary, G. H. Darlow. $600 will be given in prizes.
The directors are in charge of the various classes are as follows: Horses, J. E. Merrifeld; R. L. Toepfer; hogs, W. J. Carroll; poultry, Williams Malino; dairy products, Frank Mitchell; vegetables and roots, Thomas Sommerville and John Guss; grain and grasses, R. F. Sanderson and Walter Parlby; industrial, including children's work, Mrs. A. G. Westhead, Mrs. Frank Mitchell and Mrs. Walter Parlby; miscellaneous, including jams, bread, preserves, cakes, etc., Mrs. Westhead, Mrs. F. Mitchell and Mrs. W. Parlby; plowing competition, R. F. Sanderson. The plowing competition, as in the two preceding years, will take place at Mrs. A. C. Westhead's ranch, four miles west of Alix. The prizes, 1st $10; 2nd $, are offered by Mrs. Westhead, an engraved shield being included with the first prize. The contest will take place on Saturday, October 1, and contestants will have to plow 1- 4 of an acre of stubble land with walking plows. Some extra special prizes are offered: two prizes, $2 and $1 for two loaves of bachelors' bread; E. L. Tricky will give 3 pounds of  Ridgway tea for the largest family in the fair ground; Co. Marryat offers $10 in prizes for honey; R. F. Sanderson, 100 pounds of nails for the best bushel of Red Fife wheat, and ratchet brace and five bits for general purpose colt; Magee & Panruckers, a sack of flour for best bread made from Economy flour, and $3 worth of Tuxedo goods for best display of jellies from tuxedo powders. The Alberta Pacific Elevator company offers $5,$3 and $2 for best bushel of red fall wheat, wheat to become the company's property. E. Bashaw will present a portable granary to any exhibitor winning most points, and a $5 pair of blankets will be given by Magee & Panrucker for next highest number of points.
