The first of a series of teas to be given by the Woman's Auxiliary of the Catholic church, took place last Saturday afternoon, at the home of Mrs. David Douglas, 732 Twelfth ave. west and was very largely attended by the ladies of the congregation, as well as others.
Mrs. Douglas, gowned in fashionable green and red shot silk, and Mrs. Costigan, president of the society, in black net over silk, and trimmed with net, received the visitors. Miss McLachlan, the secretary, in a handsome black gown, assisted also in welcoming the callers.
For the first hour, Mrs. Reilly in black silk, and Mrs. Gilfoy, in black satin, presided over the tea table, Mrs. Reilly pouring the tea and Mrs. Gilfoy cutting the ices. Mrs. Thomas Burns, vice-president, in black silk, and Mrs. Nolan, in taupe, took charge during the second hour.
The assistants were Miss Marie Costigan in mauve and white, Miss Gilfoy in white, and Miss Myra Douglas in pink and white.
Pink and white carnations and ferns in great profusion, were used as floral decorations, as well as palms and potted plants.
The kindness of Mrs. Douglas in throwing open her lovely home, and entertaining so lavishly was much commented on.
