(By Herald Correspondent)
TURNER VALLEY, Jan. 22-- A meeting was held in the Scout Hall Monday to organize a branch of the Canadian Red Cross Society in the oilfields. Lt.-Col. D. H. Tomlinson, M.B.E., commissioner for the Alberta division of the Red Cross Society, outlined the history of the organization.
Ernie Latham of Okata Oils was elected president of the newly-formed association; Fred Cameron of Turner Valley, A. J. Cobb of Black Diamond, and R. E. French of Royalties as vice-presidents; and Malcolm MacGougan of Turner Valley as secretary-treasurer.
SEVENTEEN organizations of the oilfields were represented and while all these organizations that assisted with the Red Cross work during the war will revert to their former status they will have representatives to keep in touch with Red Cross officials.
One of the initial plans of the new association is to start a blood bank.
