Pioneers Elect Officers
Ralph W. Losie, of Calgary, recently was elected president of
the Alberta Chapter No. 46, Telephone Pioneers of America, at the
12th annual meeting held in Calgary.
William Mason, of Edmonton, was named vice-president; and
Walter K. Evans, of Edmonton, is secretary-treasurer.
R. G. Vanderburg, retiring president, outlined the
activities of the Alberta Chapter during 1947. Reports also were given by Frank
Jackson, Edmonton; David Cross, Calgary; and Frank Neville, Lethbridge.
AT THE MEETING were 42 active and nine life members from Calgary, Edmonton, Red
Deer, Lacombe, Macleod, High River, Acme and Bassano.
Directors elected include William Jamieson and C. G.
Topley, Calgary; A. C. Smith, Three Hills; Keith Horne, J. P. Ogilvie, T. Robb,
and George Kirkwood, Edmonton; and E. J. Elder, Cardston.
The Telephone Pioneers' organization, made up of personnel who
have served 21 years or more in the telephone industry, was founded in 1911.
There are 59 chapters with a membership of 122,000 in Canada and the
United States.
The next annual meeting will be held in Edmonton.
