Fernie Students Receive Awards

 FERNIE-- The Vogue Theatre in Fernie was filled to capacity at graduation exercises. The school colors provided the decorative motif and spring flowers were in evidence.

 Taking part on the program were Rev. A. R. Eagles, Principal Sidney Crookes, Doreen Biggs, president of the students union. The president-elect presented block letters to Doreen Biggs, Geraldine Nicoletti, Patsy Joseph Caravetta, Katherine Thomson, Leon Rushcall, Daisy Parnell, Violet Amantea, Ruth Thompson, Agnes Augustson, and Muriel Pointon.

THE ROTARY shield for scholarship was awarded to "the Gamma House," one of the four divisions in the student body. The Raworth cup for the junior boy's softball championship was received. The Green cup for the boys' hockey championship was awarded.

 Thomas G. Ewart, the first vice-president of the Crowsnest Pass Coal company addressed the graduates.

GRADUATION rings were given to Violet Amantea, Agnes Augustson, Helen Badanic, Madeline Battersby, Doreen Biggs, James Borisuk, Patsy Caravetta, John Ciriani, Eileen Dalles, Edward Dutka, Lillian Furneaux, Elizabeth George, Donald Grady, Mary Jurezak, Marion Lees, Herbert MacDonald, Kenneth Markland, Geraldine Nicoletti, Laurence Oaysko, Daisy Parnell, Muriel Pointon, Leon Rushcall, Mona Thomson, Ruth Thomson, Katherine Thomson and Frederick Zelonka.

 The valedictory was given by Fred Zelonka
