Granum H.S.A. Names President

(By Herald Correspondent)

GRANUM-- William Hermans was elected president and Mrs. Peter Weibe secretary at the H.S.A. meeting here. The other officers and committees will be appointed at the first meeting in the fall. On request of the local B.P.O.E., it was decided to sponsor a queen at the planned carnival this fall.

Special serices were held in the United Church Sunday evening commemorating the 41st anniversary of the church. Rev. William Burgess was guest speaker.

THE CHOIR WAS in attendance and music included a solo sung by Miss Isobel McDougall and a trumpet solo by Bryse Dudley. Miss Elanora Mason, read the scripture lesson.

Only about 50 per cent of the planned wheat acreage has been sown. William Fleming, who farms about two miles north of town, reports a rainfall of over five inches in the past two days. The fall rye and wheat are good and some rye fields are lodging. Gardens are making rapid growth and there is an abundance of hay to be cut.
