Mrs. O. W. Thorne of Red Deer was returned for a third term as president of the Alberta Conference W.A. of the United Church in the elections which climaxed Thursday's session at Wesley United Church.

Other officers elected were: honorary president, Mrs. G. E. Forbes, Calgary; first vice-president, Mrs. Ernest Corbett, Calgary; second vice-president, Mrs. R. J. Foster, Edmonton; third vice-president, Mrs. W. D. Mair, Calgary; fourth vice-president, Mrs. A. Glasier, Gadsby; recording secretary, Mrs. D. K. McElroy, Edmonton; corresponding secretary, Mrs. A. R. Little, Red Deer; treasurer, Mrs. C. M. Shillinglaw, Forestburg; Christian citizenship convener, Mrs. H. Peters, Granum; organization, Mrs. O. W. Thorne; devotional, Mrs. E. Corbett; literature, Mrs. R. J. Foster; youth work, Mrs. W. D. Mair; manse, Mrs. A. R. Little; life membership, Mrs. C. M. Shillinglaw; visiting and Christian fellowship, Mrs. E. C. Miller, Lethbridge; stewardship, Mrs. T. M. Dyer, Edmonton; press, Mrs. Charles McCleary, Camrose.

MRS. ERNEST CORBETT led a panel discussion at the morning meeting, at which conference conveners reported. Mrs. A. R. Little spoke on the manse and stated that the chief responsibility of the W.A. was to provide the manse with necessities and also some of the luxuries.

Speaking on citizenship, Mrs. H. Peters reviewed the work dealt with during the year, in which speakers had been heard on such topics as temperance, narcotics, delinquency and the United Nations.

Reporting on literature, Mrs. R. J. Foster urged members to order a year's supply of literature at a time through their local conveners. Mrs. H. Penner spoke on youth work and stressed the responsibility of the W.A.in all phases of youth work. She also announced that a leadership training course would be held at Alberta College in Edmonton during Easter week.

MRS. D. K. McELROY reported an increase of 350 in W.A. membership. She urged members to strive for larger membership because at present only one woman out of four in the church was a W.A. member. Mrs. C. M. Shillinglaw spoke on life memberships and said they were conferred for outstanding services, not necessarily length of service. Speaking on press and publicity, Mrs. L. C. Birdsell of Forestburg urged the women to send in reports of their meetings to the newspapers and to advertise their work.

Others who reported were Mrs. E. P. Richardson on visiting; and Mrs. E. Corbett on devotions.

A buzz session was held during the leadership of Mrs. T. M. Dyer. Later an open forum was conducted by Mrs. L. C. Birdsell and Mrs. J. E. Lovering of Lethbridge. It took the form of a question box and among the topics discussed were junior groups within the W.A.; sponsorship of C.G.I.T. groups and the increased use of available literature.

Due to lack of funds, no delegate will be sent to the Dominion council. The next annual meeting will be held in Red Deer.
