Good Cheer Club Elects Executive At Birthday Dinner

The recent annual meeting of the Good Cheer Club of Wesley United Church took the form of the 42nd anniversary dinner when annual reports were read and the installation of officers for the coming year took place.
Rev. Lynden C. Lawson installed the following slate: past president, Mrs. A. W. McCullagh; president, Mrs. H. M. Hunter; vice-president and welfare convener, Mrs. W. K. Allen; treasurer, Miss Helen Marshall; recording secretary, Mrs. Thomas Wilkes; corresponding secretary, Miss Alice Scott; layette convener, Mrs. William D. Mair; Outlook, Mrs. Floyd Foster; flowers, Mrs. Errol G. McVeigh; nominations, Mrs. A. E. Clark and Mrs. Annie V. Coutts.
During the year the club supplied clothing and layettes to needy persons and made donations to the Family Welfare Bureau, Cancer Society, Tip Top Club, Chinese Mission, Wesley Church and the Big Sister Association. Parcels were also sent to a girls' school in England and the club made Christmas pleasant for many shut-ins. Last April, in answer to an urgent appeal from a hospital in Korea, the club made and shipped a large supply of layettes and later in the year sent a substantial donation towards the repair of a school. The club also carried on its usual volunteer work at the Canadian Institute for the Blind.
