Liberals Name Candidate

BEISEKER-- W. D. MacDonald of Grainger, prominent Shorthorn breeder of the Grainger district, was Wednesday nominated to contest the Bow River constituency for the Liberals, at a nominating convention in Beiseker. Mr. MacDonald is retiring president of the Alberta Cattle Breeders Association, a director of the Canadian Shorthorn Breeders Association, director of the Western Canada Stock Growers Association, and is a graduate in agriculture from the University of Alberta.
Marsh M. Porter, Q.C., of Calgary, guest speaker at the convention, outlined the progress made by the Dominion government under Prime Minister St. Laurent in the field of foreign trade, the national economy of the country, policies on employment, social security measures, and in furthering world peace.
CLAUDE BREWSTER of Banff was elected president of the Bow River Federal Liberal Association and C. C. Matthews, Pirmez Creek, Louis Schmaltz, Beiseker, Charles County, Rockyford, and R. H. Rowbottom, Drumheller, were elected vice-presidents. H. E. Green of Banff was elected 
secretary-treasurer.
Attending the meeting from Calgary were: Alderman Mrs. Mary Dover; Felix Leew, president of the Calgary Liberal Association, and Mrs. Leew; Mrs. Grace McBratney, secretary of the Calgary Liberal Association; R. Dipner, Miss Una MacLean and J. P. Connors of Edmonton.
