Girls Selected For Competition

RED DEER-- Eight of the city's girls have been chosen to compete for queen of the Kinsmen Club's annual peanut day campaign June 27. This year, for the first time, the children at each of the eight playgrounds were allowed to pick the girl they wanted to represent them as queen.

o pick the queen candidates were held Friday night and the following girls were chosen:

Pat Davis, South; Shirley Mah, South Hill; Dale Faugh, North Red Deer; Dolores Abbott, Parkvale; Carol Leonard, Army Camp; Lynette Johnston, West Park; Frances Donahue, Michener Hill, Judy Threshsrgn, Mountview.
The peanut day campaign is staged to raise funds for one of the club's major projects, kiddies' playgrounds. Votes for queen candidate will be sold and the one with the greatest number of votes will be crowned queen on June 27. Another feature of the day will be the mammoth parade.
