District Hospital Board Planned

(By Herald Correspondent)
MEDICINE HAT-- A provisional board to draw up plans for a municipal district hospital, to be built here, will be formed as a result of a meeting held in the city between municipal leaders in the Southeast corner of the province.
There have been no nominations to the board as yet, but it is expected to consist of either eight or 10 members, with four from the city and the remainder from the district.
SUBJECT TO approval of city council, the city representatives on the board will likely be Mayor Harry Veiner and Alderman Mrs. Lillian Gust, J. W. Douglas and W. E. McCombs. Representatives from the district may be David Broadfoot, Redcliff; Mayor E. W. Schneider, Irvine; George Verhaest, Bow Island Municipal District and Reeve William Widdup, Burlington Municipal District.
F. W. Harvey, department of municipal affairs district supervisor, may also name two representatives from the improvement districts covering the Hilda, Schuler, Thelma, Suffield and Whitehorse areas.
ONE PROPOSAL that will be considered by the provisional board is for a 100-bed hospital wing, costing $1,250,000. It would be added on to the present 125-bed hospital building, that is owned by the city, with other wings being built in the future until the old unit is replaced. The new wing would include the central services as laundry, operating room and kitchens.
