Toastmistresses Elect Mrs. Howie
As President
Mrs. F. A. Howie was installed as president of
the Calgary Toastmistress Club at the anniversary charter and
installation meeting at Coste House Thursday evening. She succeeds
Mrs. A. E. Ornburn.
Mrs. G. H. Hiett, president of the Coronet Toastmistress
Club, assisted Alderman Mrs. Hermon Stevens, conducted the installation in a
candle-lighting ceremony. Other officers installed were: vice-president, Mrs. F. N. Holgate;
secretary, Mrs. George Tillisch; treasurer, Mrs. J. M. Watson; and club
representative, Mrs. George F. Hinds.
MRS. N. I. ZEMANS, president of the
Council of Social Agencies, was guest speaker and in her talk, "The
Council of Social Agencies in the Community", told of the activities of
the Council in the coordination of all welfare organizations in Calgary.
Mrs. A. E. Wilson was topic mistress, and during the
banquet each guest was called upon to give an extemporaneous talk.
Greetings from the Coronet Toastmistress Club were
extended by Mrs. Gertrude Scott. A presentation of a gavel guard and
toastmistress pin was made by Mrs. F. N. Holgate to Mrs. Ornburn, retiring
president.
